Aim and Benefits of Durham University Fellowship
The monthly remuneration for the Fellowship is c.£4,444, which is equal to a pro rata income of c.£53,333 year. A living stipend of £1,250 a month and a one-time payment of £1,800 for travel-related costs are also included.
Durham University would reimburse the successful candidate’s present employer up to a maximum of £12,000 for temporary staff costs in cases where the applicant is an employee of a news or media organization and takes a leave of absence to pursue the Fellowship, subject to certain restrictions and limitations.

Requirements for Durham University Fellowship Qualification
Qualified applicants should have between two-and five-years’ professional journalism experience. Where a potential applicant is not currently a journalist but has worked in an investigative reporting capacity in a similar professional field (for example:
- Leading human rights or other socio-political publications and campaigns;
- Working as an author or researcher on authoritative investigative work; or
- Developing in-field photo-or video-research projects, documentaries, or exhibitions) applications may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
